We are starting to explore Ireland and seeing some amazing landscapes. I knew there was more to Ireland than pubs, Guinness, whiskey and Fish & Chips… and we have only scratched the surface of all that this Emerald Isle has to offer. Hopefully some of my pictures of the famous and well known as well as some of the less famous and unknown will give you a small sample of what awaits you should you make this a destination. But don’t get me wrong… the pubs, Guinness, whiskey and Fish & Chips are AMAZING!

Hore Abbey (also Hoare Abbey, sometimes known as St. Mary's) is a ruined Cistercian monastery near the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland. 'Hore' is thought to derive from 'iubhair' – yew tree. The former Benedictine abbey at Hore was given to the Cistercians by Archbishop David MacCearbhaill (in 1270), who later entered the monastery. He endowed the Abbey generously with land, mills and other benefices previously belonging to the town. Source: Wikipedia

Hadrian's wall. Incredible Roman history in Scotland.

The Falls in the Gardens of Blarney Castle

Drew sitting on Hadrian's wall reflecting on the history that he loves and knows so well. And for you other historians, yes, Hadrian's Wall is technically in England, not Ireland. But it was still REALLY cool.

A lovely Irish Blessing that I wish for all of us

The Blarney House, taken from the Blarney Castle. I highly recommend this as a stopping point should you find yourself in the neighbourhood.

More from the ring of Dingle. I found this "ring" more impressive than the famed Ring of Kerry. Call me crazy.

This was taken at Moll's Gap, within the Ring of Kerry

You can see the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge to the left, leading to Carrickarade Island.

This is Poulnabrone Dolmen, an ancient structure not too far from the Cliffs of Mohr

Another view around the ring of Dingle... I just like saying that by the way...

Cliffs of Mohr with some added color.

Took this image at St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. A Jonathan Swift quote that rings true today around the world, not just Ireland.

More ring of Dingle and Dingle Bay.

You guessed it! Along the ring of Dingle!

Drombeg Stone Circle located in southern Ireland.

This was taken in the gardens at Blarney Castle.

My sister, Wendy, took this photo during our tour of Oscar Wilde's boyhood home. It reminded me of some of the Norman Rockwell paintings. It is me reflected in a mirror, but it looks a little like I am part of the artwork. I thought it was fun.
